Andersons of Colonial N. Carolina

meant what they said, said what they meant

Thomas Mandue of IOW, VA and NC

I’ve started a Page on this guy… it has some frustrating hints to George Anderson who patented land in IOW in 1695 and then just vanishes in 1710.  It all may be coincidence but hey, I’ll take any clues I can get. An interesting side thought is that Mandue gets his Patent in 1682… but there is a prior land deal in 1681 where he purchased another piece of land.  My thought is that George Anderson may be in some earlier records. The problem is that on the Familysearch.org website they do not have that earlier record set… bummer… I am checking the site regularly for any additions.

I have a “house of cards” theory that George Anderson died prior to 1733 and left a widow Elizabeth Anderson who died 1733 in North Carolina (the mother of Carolus Anderson). All of whom may be connected to William Anderson who died 1789 in Edgecombe County, NC… or such is my theory. All unproven of course.

Which is basically what this whole blog is centered around.  I just get side-tracked a LOT!  But it is all good fun.

  1. There have been changes to the Mormon web-sites. There is a newfamilysearch that has been created and has more data than familysearch.org. However, Wikipedia has lots of things still waiting to be added to new family search. I don’t know if this will help you are not. I still use Google and it directs to most anything anything that is online. It took 3 afternoon sessions at the LDS Family History Center before two of the staff figured it all out. Lots has not been transferred from the old familysearch.org, to newfamilysearch.org but Wikipedia can still find it as all three are LDS church programs. The reason I found it Google picks up free and fee required titles and lists them. New material posted by the LDS will not appear on familysearch.org. Nothing new will be added to familysearch.org. Eventually, it will be taken down. That is why I was getting no help at the Family History Center until it click on al of us at one time what to do. If this is not clear, it is the best I can do.

    • I went to the “new” portal… it still loads the files I’ve gotten used to… good. The latest Virginia additions are for Dec 13, 2013 so all is well… I think. I hope they don’t try to reinvent this wheel… if it works, don’t fix it.
