Fuzzy Patents…

A Fuzzy Patent … for lack of a coherent definition. may be conceived of as if a falling down drunk wrote the survey directions. The directions make no sense. And that fact makes it difficult to figure out and draw… in my case, to place a graphic representation on a map.

Example:

In that example there are numerous clues that can lead us to have an “idea” of where the land might be. But in my case of making an accurate map it simply is not good enough… and irritatingly useless. The recourse, or workaround, I generally use is to find and place any usable patents around the Fuzzy Patent and make a lame excuse for the drunken surveyor that drew the damn thing…and who also was an incompetent lout. ( This is not to slander competent drunken surveyors). And finally, I label the fuzzy/missing patent with an outline of some different color to make it stand out and noticeably aberrant and then say it is approximate, or likely was here or perhaps there or whatever. Example: the blue patent is “Fuzzy” :

With all of that said, I have another problem to expose and that is Fuzzy Mappers. Those creatures are folks, like me, who mean well but make mistakes. In my case (as in the image above) note the “deed” I used in the place of a Patent labeled “John Nairne to Owen McDaniel a Sale 300ac 1725”. I broke the first rule of Patent Maps… which is: Don’t use deeds where a patent should be.

Don’t use Deeds where a Patent should be if you call the map a Patent Map.

Deeds may be used on a Patent Map but the deed must be enclosed within the existing Patent because without first having some land to make the deed from it would not have come into existence. You first have to steal the land from hapless Indegenes, grant the land to horrid White Invaders and wait patiently for the newly created Grantors to dole out the land to Grantees (heirs or other horrid Invaders)… all the while collecting quit rents (money) for the land (given out as patents) for the overlords to live in majestic splendor- whom I call Castletrash.

Having hopefully explained my background reasons for dealing with Fuzzy Patents, now perhaps you can help me out to find answers to some… starting with a fix for that John Nairn missing Patent I detailed in the example above.

More later if this gets any interest… comments are welcome
