I have Gray’s, Blounts, Pridgeons, Ruffin’s Edwards, Collins, Parsons and Hardy’s in my family tree — all Virginia settlers moved to Dobbs/Lenoir/Craven/Duplin/Johnston/Glascow/Greene….most lived on the same property, never moved, but their county changed, making them difficult, if not impossible to trace. I recommend a grid, with locations, county changes and dates, and tracking each one against time. Then there is, of course, the “burned” counties in NC!

The changing boundaries are challenging… I find some solice in getting falling down drunk. But then upon getting sober once again I’m still faced with the same confusing boundary changes. I’m trying to work through it…
