Did Phillip Thomas really exist?
I have no idea where to even start to deal with mapping this patent. I suspect the last resort will be when I surround his Twilight Zone patent with his neighbors. Then this “odd” void will appear. I will dutifully plop his name in the said void but I’m actually a bit apprehensive now that I have considered it.

I suggested to Traci that deed recorders of early Colonial Edgecombe were smoking some Tuscarora Wacky Weed but she was not in the mood for my peculiar speculations and shushed me. Fine, I said… Be like that.
The deed book version (EC DB 4 p. 185) is much more detailed and makes more sense – the meander down Horns Creek continues South. I’ll email you the deed.

I found your blog by googling Thomas Pretlow. I think I am researching some of the FPOC he emanicated around 1780. You have a wonderful map of Isle of Wight. What is the year? I have found the boundaries of Burwell Green, 1844 in Chapman’s district. Is he on the map you made? Now I’m going to look at your map of the Meherrin River because I live near a tributary.
