Timber Branch Court House…

This is for any puzzle solvers out there…

I ran across this article :

http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/bertie/history/other/courthou283gms.txt

I mapped the patent… approximately… (center of graphic)

I am curious of any neighbors to more accurately map the location.

This may be one… but it seems to reference the East shore of Chowan [River]?… but I think I may be totally off base and am reading too much into the description?

  2. The amount of undiscovered history here is amazing… the deeper I dig the more amazed I am.

  3. I was looking for Quarter branch, Cypress pond branch and Canaan Woods and I came across another article by Gerald W. Thomas https://sites.rootsweb.com/~ncbertie/caleGTinfo3.htm . He has a connection with the Jernigan’s along Loosing and Wild Cat Swamps. I plan on reaching out to him.

  4. I am seeking out Collins, Russell, Wyatt, Napier/Napper, who were living in that Chinkapin Swamp area in the Hertford-Bertie borderlands … no luck yet. James Russell sold his land to a Robert Sumner in 1764, I think. It was part of a tract that bordered Bunch and Harrell, west of Colerain.

  5. Stumbled across this today, would love to know what kind of program(s) you’re using to map old grants and parcels over a modern map. Hoping to do the same for my neck of the woods!
