1. Finally found one of my Wrights on the maps! Surrvy/IOW patents. On 31 Jan 1784 there was an indenture made by David Wright and wife Sarah and James Wright, the youngest son of Job Wright, their father. I have been looking for a long time for the 17 acres owned by Job Wright mentioned by Ulysses P. Joyner in his book They Crossed the Blackwater: First Settlers of Southampton County, VA. In the Indenture James and wife Sarah give James Wright 2 tracts according to the wishes of his father Job Wright, who did not want to probate his will: 1 tract is the 17 acres on which James Wright lives (letters patent to Job Wright 14 Feb 1761) and tract 2 is 170 acres of John Rasberry by letters patent of 13 Nov 1713. Thank you for posting the John Rasberry patent!

2. This link is to a “search” of my sight for the name “wright”…

   I am curious of your thoughts of this early research…particularly about my research of the Preacher’s House… am I losing you with too many confusing details? Is my meager attempts at snarky wittiness inappropriate?

   If I am losing you then perhaps I should tone it down a bit? There is a truth that “technical” writing is difficult. My concern is that I “think” I may have uncovered the first Wright perhaps in Virginia?
