William Deloach STUDY
This Study has twists and turns and captures my attention. I’m focused on the mystery of whether the Wm Deloach I am focused on went to South Carolina or he went to Edgecombe County, NC. I am in the Edgecombe camp. 1740s.
a reference map of where I have researched in early 1700s… Northampton, NC
The complication of this area is that it was variously known as Isle of Wight, Brunswick County, VA and at the same time (prior to the 1728 Boundary Survey by ByrdII) it was also considered Chowan Precinct, Bertie County and later as Northampton, NC. This led to many disputes, as can be imagined.
Three principle families are involved and they intermarried… Deloach, Boykin and Wall.
Here are some of the patents above that I have dissected…
This is rather involved… but has the 2 Deloach patents…
This is a couple deeds where Francis Boykin purchased property from James Turner.
The WILL in this document is where I document that Richard Wall had daughters Judith (married a Deloach) and Sarah (who married a Boykin). This is the crux of my case… I think this Judith Wall married William Deloach Jr and by 1740s was buying land near Tyancokey swamp in Edgecombe County.
This document also provides the source for the account of a William Deloach moving to South Carolina about this same time. I am trying to sort things out.

With all of the above said, I still cannot find any new primary evidence of the older William Deloach in Edgecombe in 1744 (other than the document I will show below). This is why I call it a “Nuance”.
These are my “working” Trees…these are not final
