  1. The only time I remember seeing the term shroom was in a Wallace Stegner story about a bunch of U.C. Santa Cruz students/stoners on an outdoor trip. One girl in the group was nicknamed shroom, because her head was shaped like a mushroom. The shroomhedge must be the low bush under the trees, which does look a bit like a mushroom.

  2. It was common down here in SW Florida amongst the ’60s stoners…
    They were known to hop barb wired fences to trek around in search of ‘choice’ Psilocybin or ‘magic mushrooms’ for tea. And then the fad just died out… I suppose. They, the shrooms, seemed happiest growing around a cow turd.
