my new site…Southside Virginia

This site (Colonial NC)  is a mess… I have a certain fondness for it because its my firstborn.  But, just like sobering up with tattoos the next day, it has issues.  It is a nightmare to navigate.

Therefore, I have created a sister site to focus on my Maps and Virginia.  Also this pastime/hobby is getting expensive… mostly because I do not care for advertisements interrupting my rants.  So if you care to motivate / bribe me in a direction that might serve your own genealogy/history interests, then that is possible by buying me (cough, cough) a cup or three coffees.  For now, that coffee button will remain on this site, but that may change later.

So go…check it out…comment/whine…whatever (do something, even if it is wrong)

I propose to fill that Southside map up…from the Appomattox to the NC border.  Indian Traders, horse thieves and women of ill repute will emerge when presented.   I shall try my best to stay out of bars.    Don Quijote would be proud.

Of all the versions of House of the Rising Son I have heard, the Animals are top shelf.  But this little ditty caught my attention…something about it…

I’ve carried this tune in my head since I was 16 or so…  The weird AI generated Eric Burdon is a bit creepy tho’.
