I am curious about the map showing Nicholas Boon with 130 acres in 1723. Written below his name is Kinchen Bennet. There is an early Kinchen Boon[e] and he is found later on in Georgia, etc. I wonder if there are any Boon-Kinchen Bennet marriages? Thanks. Sharon
Hi Sharon
The references I note on the maps are from the actual patents as found on the digital online versions. My two go-to sources are now easily searchable (well somewhat easy) and found online for mere mortals like us to access.
The difficult aspect of doing a map such as you note is gathering info on the land swaps that are made between the landowners. Those are noted in the Deed books such as by Margaret Hofmann and Mary Best Bell (for North Carolina). In those abstracts no metes and bounds are supplied. Therefore no maps can be produced without researching the actual deeds.
Per your comment, I suggest searching the above links for William Kinchen (Kitchen) and William Bennet first in the Virginia site. Next in the NC site (the NC Land Grants can be further broken down by counties such as Chowan, Bertie and Edgecombe, etc).
At some future date I will re-visit this Meherrin area and re-do these folks… it is a particular interest to me also.
